A few days in the Olde City of York...

I'm just back from a few days in York (as in Yorkshire, UK). Due to a work course I've been doing, I've been going down once a month over the past year. As some of you know, I've been put through the millstone recently with the decision of having to put my two beautiful dogs to sleep (or not). I'm not going into the details right now, but it's been stressful, an emotional rollercoaster to say the least and the decision has been made to reprieve them, which, with hindsight now, is the best option.

So....a trip to York was very, very welcome after ALL THAT!! I stayed overnight with a few of my work colleagues and we celebrated the 'end of course' with rum cocktails, and Indian meal and then listening to 'blue-grass' music in an old 300-year-old pub (most of them are at 'least' that old (one was from the 1500's...!!! but the beer still tasted pretty good!).

Then the next day, I went antiquing (picked up a lovely Deco 1930's travel clock in leather folding case), then met up with a few of my pals at the famous Betty's (serving cream teas since 1919!!). The waitresses still dress in the 20's uniforms!! and it is lovely, lovely, lovely!! There is even a couple of old mirrors that were there during WWII and servicemen from the RAF, USAAF, Airborne..etc, have scratched their names, dates and units onto it. It's still there folks!!(this area was surrounded by operational airfields back in WWII).

Then of course there's the famous York Minster (Cathedral), which I think is about 1000-years-old now (give or take!!). So that's in one of the 'touristy' photos!!

So without further ado, a few of the 'selected' (or is that censored?!!) pics...
