Paddy is dragged into 21st C. with a new phone...

I'm not a huge fan of mobile/cell phones. But it seems the demands of modern life have by default forced them upon me. They do have their place, don't get me wrong, but I also like privacy and escape from the world at times and it seems that the cell phone is almost an old ball-and-chain that can be yanked by whoever/whenever folk want your time, and you dance to 'their' tune, rather than your own.

But, they are useful from a safety/security aspect, like when the car breaks down. Or you are out in the hills and have a fall. Or maybe you just need to organise to liaise and meet with a friend when in town, or you're going to be late...etc. Can you tell I'm *trying hard* to justify having one to myself!! You see, it's not really practial to carry my heavy old 1938 phone around with me.

So, the other day, I treated myself to a new cell phone. As I have internet access in my contract, but the screen on my little baby phone is far too small to see anything. So I was after one that had a large screen and was easy to access emails/websites..etc on. This phone (see pic), was in the sale, so I went for it. Now, I'm having fun trying to work out how it works, as it seems to be all singing and all dancing.

I don't care if it has a camera, a music player, a voice recorder, ....an espresso maker...(oops, don't think it makes cappucino...but can't promise..! and would be handy), as I just want it as a communications device, but it seems to have all these things thrown in anyway, as the public demand it these days.

At least I can access 'here' and TFL and my emails. Also I can have a pic of Ginger on the front which is nice and I've just worked out how to download/or is is upload? an oldfashioned bell RING to it. So a little bit 0f 38 is in my pocket.

Plus it's slim enough like an old fashioned gent's wallet to fit into my pocket :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, the TG01

  1. I'm with you on the 'electronic leash' perspective.

Well, at least it's a reasonably dignified and somewhat gentlemanly looking device for a cellphone - and being able to customize it 1938 style is a plus!

  2. This phone is so clever . Even I can use it!!! I am sitting here in a little cafe beside a grand piano listening to Cole Porter and drinking a Cappucinno .
