Just newly returned from a camping session of me, tent and Lola the car!! Have always wanted to visit Castle Howard in the Howardian Hills of Yorkshire, where the 80's series and the movie, Brideshead Revisited were filmed. So got there and camped on the Estate with a view from my tent across the lake to the house!!
Then motored across the the gorgeous Peak Districk of Derbyshire with amazing road names like ROAD OF THE 13 BENDS!! (Like 13 Samurai!!! does have a mystical ring to it!) which apparently is a fav with motorcyclists, as do many of these windy country roads in the hills. Just beautiful with the hood down and the wind in my face, going where and when I feel like it.
Camped around Buxton (old Victorian Spa town with a beautiful old book shop) and Bakewell (famous for it's home backed Tarts, so I guess a "Tart with a Heart" like me didn't stand out too much!!).
Then down to a 40's weekend to meet a few pals and then finally finishing amongst the exhaulted spires and colleges of Cambridge.
Really must do something like that again, and soon!!
Thank you for sharing your trip with us all in pictures and words on your blog, Paddy. What a marvellous time you surely must have had, wow-- camping right at the Estate too! Love seeing your pics juxtaposed with the couple of snaps from Brideshead Revisited, yet ANOTHER series and film(s) to add to my ever growing 'must view' DVD list. Another lovely travelogue here from you!
