Are you ALL sitting comfortably by the open log fire in Paddy's Cocktail Lounge...? Cocoa or hot milk at the ready? Jim Jams ON...? Teddy Bear's to hand...? Light's dimmed?
Hold tight, because I'm going to take you on a long-loooooong journey to a faraway land with a little boy called 'Max.' Just before I do, squint your eyes and look around your bedroom, as you might, just MIGHT, see that the wall-paper is beginning to change into trees and vegetation, the light is transforming into a moon-like object burning in the sky like an orb over the sea and the carpets are turning to grass, and... Oh Paddy! I love this!
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa! I really appreciate you saying that. P.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that was just lovely! I love that story, and Maurice Sendak's illustrations. But most of all, I loved hearing YOU read it!! (And of course, if one is a Wild Thing, it's only appropriate to party to the swingin' sounds of Mr. Artie Shaw! Whee!)
ReplyDeleteSir Paddy, I think your voice can melt more than just butter! Off to bed with me now, and I expect I shall have lots of nice dreams!
THE BEST my darling Paddy! Thank you so very much for the story, I also loved hearing your delicious voice.
ReplyDeleteHave you had any godchildren or other family or neighborhood young ones over for a sleepover babysit at Uncle Paddy's to hear you read it to them?
Sigh, too bad we ladies cannot come over for a deco pyjama party... like you and the others had at Farnsworth in August;)
I couldn't agree more, Carey Darling! Can I think of anything more grand than a pyjama party at Paddy's? I think not!
