Birthdays and Blizzards

It was an interesting birthday that I don't think I'll forget in a hurry! Harshest winter in 30 years and I was forced to make my way to work across snow fields and roads that resembled bob-sleigh runs. A two-hour hike that usually takes ten to fifteen minutes by car normally, made 'my day' quite a memorable one!! But I'm not a quitter and it was important that I got into work as other folk really rely on me.

The nice treat at the end of the day was that some friends in the next village invited me over for an impromptu Birthday Dinner, along with chocate brownies (a la Nigella..!!). All gooey, squishy, chocolately, definitely bad for me, and therefore MOST DELISCIOUS on a winter's night!! Another year over for moi. The joys of growing older!!

Thanks to ALL of you for your birthday wishes!! HOW on earth did you know? seriously!!

  1. Happy birthday, Paddy! It sounds like a delightful time, even if there was a lot of snow on the ground!

  2. I should have sent you a delicious made from scratch chocolate cake with fresh raspberries and raspeberry preserves filling, and real chocolate buttercream frosting for your birthday- like I made here for my husband. Maybe for Valentine's Day my dear...?
