THE area that I live in currently has more castles in it that any other place in the UK. It has been fought over time-and-time again throughout the ages. The legacy of this bloodlust are the ruins of fortifications and castles dotted around this varied land of mountains, hills, rivers and beaches. The one's I've photographed are, Alnwick; Dunstanburgh and Warkworth Castles (all of which I believe have been used in movies of one sort or another, ie: Alnwick in Harry Potter as Hogwarts and Elizabeth ).
That does it. I'm definitely coming to visit you! ;-)
ReplyDeleteoh I miss castles!
ReplyDeleteWhen I live in Ireland we visited so many that my (then 6 yr old) son eventually put his foot down - we are NOT going into any more castles mummy.
Plus he went into Colchester castle and was inexplicably terrified by something and that put him off for good!
Melissa, you and I are BOTH coming to visit Sir Paddy!! How glorious these castles look, can you tour them?
ReplyDeleteI'm swooning! These pictures get my celtic blood up and I'm ready to "hop the pond" again now - I tell you what, Paddy, I'll trade you a camping and riding tour of Arizona for a guided castle tour of your neck of the woods!
ReplyDeletePaddy, what is the name of the beach (town( in the 4th picture please?
ReplyDeleteCarey, if it's the one with the river beside it then it's Warkworth Castle. The one at the far end of the beach is Dunstanburgh.
