I've been contemplating getting a 1930's or 40's cycle for some time now, but with only between one and four gears, it could be (will be) hard going with the terrain I live in (hilly to mountainous).
Even with a modern 15 gear bike, the going can be tough, depending on my cycle fitness levels (not as good as they have been!). But today was a good day to be alive and the most wonderful of Autumnal weather for donning the gear and getting the bike out on the road. So went for a good two-hour pedal up hill and down dale and feeling all the better for it. Now just settling down to a fine bottle of chilled Broughton Ale from the Tweed Valley in Scotland, which 'I feel' I have duly earned now :)
As for the 30's bicycle, well...on the back burner 'for now' but you never know, you just never know with me and vintage things...
Looks just stunning, Paddy! What a view!
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I'm going to have to try that Broughton Ale...and from the Tweed Valley, too! Chin, chin!
Sir Paddy, you certainly are ever the contented cyclist in these pictures, looks like it was the perfect lovely day and place for your ride. You do look mighty fine kitted out proper for the activity -nice legs ;) Cycling is such grand exercise, I really must get my Raleigh mountain bike (also called a stump jumper out here) all tuned up, and get out and about on it, following your good example!
ReplyDeleteJust relaxing this evening in the cozy environs of your Cocktail Lounge for a spell with a glass of Pinot Grigio in hand while enjoying the vintage tunes you've qued up here for your "Cocktail Shakers" on your blog. Thank you! This is one of the many sweet little 'extra' features that makes your blog in particular rise above the rest. Most delightful, Sir. Well done!!
