RoughWear WWII A-2 by GoodWear

These photos are a long time in coming, as I've had the jacket a few months now. Made by A2 vintage flying jacket enthusiast, John Chapman up in the northwest corner of the USA. John took his love for detail (background in professional graphic design), vintage flying jackets and in particular the iconic A-2 summer weight flying jacket (as issued to the Army Air Forces of the United States during WWII), and put his money where his mouth is by producing a line of the most authentic reproduction A2's available. He also offers other jackets, including the pre-WWII A-1, the G1 and a civilian 30's jacket (all in leather). Having sourced beautiful hides from Japan, exact copies of snaps, threads, liners, cuff and waist bands, and a range of optional original zippers, John's 'one man band' is raising the bar for authenticity to new heights (established manufacturers, take NOTE).
This man shuns the modern cut, baggy, high street/mall leather jackets, for the trimmer, more classically stylish WWII cut jackets, and he's got quite a following to match his strong and growing reputation!

Without further ado, here's my little piece of 1940's magic!!

  1. That's quite the jacket there, Paddy! I have a 1930s-cut black leather bomber myself and I love it! It goes with anything - from casual to a night at Cicada and keeps me toasty warm, too!

  2. What a great jacket, Paddy. Obviously one of the very best reproductions being made for today's market!! I had previously seen your pics of this elsewhere, and had always thought it was a vintage jacket!! Fedoras and leather flight helmets off to John Chapman for his meticulous attention to all the details and getting 'it' right with this one!
